Spaghetti Squash “Mac & Cheese”
A simple yoga class and a large spaghetti squash rekindled my spark — and inspired this cozy vegan mac & cheese.

Quinoa, Black Bean & Soyrizo Stuffed Peppers
Well, September arrived & so did summer! It has been quite hot here in San Diego & there is no sign of relief in the forecast. Unlike most parts of the country, it takes a bit of time for summer to wind down in Southern California, & believe it or not, September & October can be the hottest times of the year. For now, I must make the most of the warm days & summer produce. I’ve had an abundance of peppers arrive in my CSA delivery ~ red, yellow, green, orange…just about every

Spring Clean Kitchari with Zucchini, Baby Turnips, & Tatsoi
Hey there! It’s been a while. I mentioned last week that I would be taking a bit of a break to focus on packing & preparing for my move. Well, I packed up & moved out over the weekend & now I am settling into my new place. The first thing to get unpacked & reorganized was the kitchen, of course! My first homemade meal in the new digs? This lovely Spring Detox Kitchari… Last week, I attempted to commence a 21-Day Ayurvedic Spring Clean Challenge guided by my friend & mentor,

New Year’s Eve Paella
A few years ago I decided to start my own “New Year’s Day Tradition” - a Champagne & Paella Party. This year I had a change of plans & made paella for NYE. I didn’t have the “party” but opened it up for anyone who might want to drop by. My recipe this year came from my newly acquired & quickly beloved Candle 79 Cookbook , which was a Christmas gift from my darling Mom (I gave her a copy as well). One of the first recipes I opened to when thumbing through the book was their Pa

Recipe Review: Festive Chickpea Tart
This was a dish that was supposed to be served Christmas morning, but it didn’t happen, as there was not enough time. So we opted for quick bake cinnamon rolls, veggie bacon, & fruit salad, & then made this for post-Christmas brunch. I did a whole lotta nothing this holiday, except for a bit of cooking. I spent most of the day in my new “I Love Paris” jammies, and it was wonderful. I am reveling in not working a retail job this holiday season & avoiding the mall at all costs.

Rustic Beet Tart with Cashew Ricotta, Orange Zest, Walnuts & Basil
It’s a shame to admit that I've had a lack of inspiration in the kitchen lately. I think I’m in a bit of a food rut. My CSA shares have been a bit underwhelming, & I’ve been busy & tired, & either eating out more than usual or eating the same boring salad. Not exciting or blog-worthy. Cooking is typically a means of stress relief for me, & spending a weekend afternoon in the kitchen usually gives me so much joy, even if I am only cooking for myself. So, I decided it was time

Eggplant with Harvest Grains, Basil, & Pine Nuts
Do you ever find yourself asking the question, “What Would Martha Do?” You know which Martha I’m talking about. Love her or leave her, she is an excellent resource who, I must say, I rely on quite a bit. This leads me to the creation of this dish. With a new CSA share coming in a few days, it was time to take inventory of what remained from the last share. Even after all the eggplant dishes I’ve made in the last few weeks, can you believe that I still had three on hand? Kno
